She says she drinks no other drink but tears..."
Act 3.2.36-37
Once again Lavinia is silenced by a man. This time she is controlled by her father as most young girls were/(possibly) are. Not only does Titus know what she is thinking, but even now has the knowledge of actions she wants to take. I possibly could be stretching this, but it is a perfect example of the lower status being put on women by men. Titus may be trying to make her feel better, but he has yet to take an action in finding who her rapists were and punishing them. He deems it necessary to read a book, worry about his dead sons, and complain about his hand. He refuses to notice who is responsible for these evil acts.
