Hollywood Make-Up Artists

"What, brother, am I far enough from myself?"
Act1.3.1

I know there is this thing call suspension of disbelief, but for a mother not to even hint a recognition of her own flesh and blood is a little too farfetched. His own brother and sister don't see who he really is. I'm not even mentioning the shadow of incestuousness and disrespect of Vindice's acts towards his sister and mother, respectively. Whoever wrote this play (Middleton or Tourneur) simply disregarded years and years of knowing someone. Usually, when someone disguises themselves in classical literature, there is at least some small line or mention of their appearance resembling their former selves. It was either a huge oversight or possibly a look into the twisted mind of the writer (hopefully the latter as it would be more interesting).
